Police arrest police officer as suspect in free nutritious meal corruption case

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) have stated they support and respect the legal process undertaken by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) after it named a police officer as a new suspect in an alleged corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for 2025-2026. “Polri supports and respects the law enforcement process in the MBG corruption case being handled by the Attorney General’s Office,” said Polri Head of Public Relations, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He said Polri would also take firm action against the officer, who has the initials LMI. The Attorney General’s Office has named the Secretary of the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at BGN, with the initials LMI, as a new suspect in the case. “He served as Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau at BGN until March 2025, and currently serves as Secretary of the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at BGN,” said the Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi. He also confirmed that LMI is a police officer. He explained that LMI’s involvement began in 2025, when LMI asked witnesses YCS and RD to establish a company with the aim of selling food trays, or ‘ompreng’, to prospective partners of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) at a price determined by the suspect. “Included in that price was a portion for LMI so that the point would be approved for the sale of the ompreng,” he said.
