Police Arrest Perpetrator of Bomb Threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15

Police moved swiftly to investigate a bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The perpetrator, a man with the initials MY (34), has been arrested. “One perpetrator, with the initials MY, whose address is near the school where the incident occurred, has been secured,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Monday (13/7/2026). Budi did not yet provide further details regarding the chronology of the arrest. The perpetrator is currently being examined at the South Jakarta Metro Police headquarters. “Investigators are still looking into the suspect’s objectives and motives,” he said. A sweep conducted by the Gegana bomb squad and the Densus 88 counter-terrorism unit at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi found no bomb at the location. “The result is negative, but it is still being swept, it is being swept again,” said Jagakarsa Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nurma Dewi, when contacted on Monday (13/7). The threat was sent while the students and teachers were holding a ceremony on the first day of school after the long holiday. The threat was sent via private message to teachers and administrative staff. “The report came in at 07.30 WIB, but the WhatsApp message was sent while people were at the ceremony. They only saw the WhatsApp message after the ceremony, and we all immediately came, the sub-district head, the ward head,” she explained.
