The Bekasi Metro Police have uncovered a robbery case targeting an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver in the East Cikarang District. During the operation, one suspect with the initials AM was apprehended, whilst another accomplice has been placed on the wanted list (DPO).

Head of Public Relations for the Bekasi Metro Police, AK Aliyani, confirmed the arrest was made following a series of in-depth investigations. “One suspected perpetrator with the initials AM was successfully arrested, while another suspect is still being pursued by officers,” Aliyani stated in Cikarang on Thursday evening (18/6).

The criminal incident began when the victim received an order via an application to transport a passenger from the South Cikarang area to Jalan Raya Cipayung, Cipayung Village, East Cikarang District. However, upon arrival at the destination, the situation turned terrifying.

The victim was threatened with a sharp weapon by the perpetrator. Under duress, the ojol driver was helpless as his Honda Beat motorcycle and mobile phone were forcibly seized by the suspects, who immediately fled the scene.

Following the incident, the victim promptly reported it through the National Police emergency service. The swift report was immediately responded to by police personnel, who processed the crime scene and collected witness statements.

Based on the identification results, officers managed to track down suspect AM in Kampung Rawabangkong, Sertajaya Village, East Cikarang District. Police seized several key pieces of evidence from the suspect.

“Currently, AM is being held at the East Cikarang Police Station to undergo further examination and investigation. We are still pursuing the other suspect involved in this crime,” Aliyani stressed.

Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Sumarni, urged ojol drivers to increase their vigilance, especially when accepting orders late at night or in the early hours of the morning. The public is also encouraged not to hesitate in using the 110 hotline to report suspicious activity or disturbances to public order in their neighbourhood.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of a rapid response through official police reporting channels to expedite the uncovering of street crimes within the jurisdiction of Bekasi Regency.
