The Maritime Police Unit (Satpolairud) of Bima Police District has prevented an illegal explosives transaction linked to destructive fishing. One male suspect with the initials H, aged 45, has been arrested, and police have seized 10 detonators.

The Head of the Maritime Police Unit at Bima Police District, Chief Inspector Hari Purnomo, stated that the investigation into the suspected destructive fishing offence took place in Niu, specifically at the boundary between Bima City and Bima Regency on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

“The investigation began with information from residents reporting an explosives transaction for fish bombing at the location,” he said.

Following up on the information, Hari deployed six personnel to the scene. Upon arrival at the location, the team first conducted surveillance to verify the initial information received.

“After confirming the details, the team immediately took law enforcement action by arresting H, a resident of Kolo Neighbourhood, Asakota Sub-district, Bima City, and conducted a search,” Hari explained.

The search yielded 10 active detonators and other mixed materials. The materials used for fish bombing were hidden by H inside a motorcycle seat.

“H and the evidence have been secured at the Maritime Police Unit headquarters of Bima Police District for further legal processing,” he concluded.
