Police arrest naked student who was drunk and assaulted motorists

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have arrested a naked university student, identified by the initials YK (23), who was allegedly drunk and assaulted motorists on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung Number 8 RT 03/RW 04, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

“Today, Wednesday (19/8), at approximately 09.00 WIB, officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the Lenteng Agung area, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head AKP Joko Adi Wibowo at the South Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Wednesday.

Joko confirmed that the assault occurred on Tuesday (18/8) evening at 23.45 WIB. The assault was carried out against two motorcyclists who were passing along the main road. Police eventually received the information and immediately went to the location.

“Regarding the incident, officers of course conducted an investigation and shortly after the incident the identity of the person suspected of being the perpetrator was identified,” he said.

Police then arrested the suspect YK and detained him at Jagakarsa Police Station. When questioned, the suspect’s motive for the assault was that he was under the influence of alcohol or drunk.

“So last night when officers arrived at the crime scene, they received information from the public that the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol,” he said.

Regarding the victims, police are still taking their statements by summoning them to the South Jakarta Metro Police headquarters.

The evidence secured by police includes a piece of plywood used by the suspect during the assault.

“Meanwhile, according to information from the suspect’s confession, it was plywood or a board believed to be from a bench, a seating bench,” he said.
