Police Arrest Motorcycle Thief in East Jakarta Targeting Vehicles with Keys Left In

East Jakarta’s Pasar Rebo Police Station uncovered a motorcycle theft case in Gedong Village, Pasar Rebo subdistrict, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. The suspect, identified as AK, was detected after surveillance footage circulated on social media.

Reskrim Unit Chief AKP Lili explained the theft occurred when the suspect passed by the victim’s residence. The victim’s motorcycle was parked in the yard, with keys still in the ignition, allowing the suspect to act quickly. “The keys were still in the ignition. She has committed similar thefts before, targeting vehicles with keys left in,” Lili said.

During questioning, the suspect did not deny her actions. “We identified her and arrested her today at a rental house in Pasar Rebo,” she added. Surveillance footage showed the suspect casually walking past the victim’s house in Gedong before swiftly taking the motorcycle due to the keys being left in.
