MEDAN, North Sumatra: Police have arrested a farmer in the Tanah Karo regency and confiscated around 100 marijuana plants he had allegedly grown in his field, Antara reported yesterday.
Police spokesman Lt. Col. Leo Soekardi said Masni, 43, a resident of Bulu Pancur village, is currently being questioned.
Last year, provincial police found hectares of marijuana plantations in Johar district and confiscated 600 tons of dried marijuana leaves ready for export to other regions.
In West Tanjungkarang district, Lampung, police are questioning three local hooligans suspected of using and trafficking marijuana.
The three, identified only as IN, GU and DED, were arrested over the weekend for their involvement in an attack on a resident of Gedung Air village, Slamet. Police later found evidences of drug abuse and trafficking by the three youths. (swe)
