Police Arrest Man for Assaulting Wife in Kupang
The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Reserse PPA) and the Special Crimes Investigation Unit (PPO) of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police arrested a man with the initials JZP after he was suspected of assaulting his wife, OS. The case of domestic violence occurred in Fatukoa Village, Maulafa District, Kupang City, NTT, on Thursday, May 14th, 2026.
“The perpetrator has been secured on Friday night (May 15th, 2026) for further legal proceedings,” said the Director of Reserse PPA and PPO of the NTT Police, Kombes Nova Irone Surentu to detikBali, Saturday (June 16th, 2026).
Nova explained that the case initially went viral on social media. In addition, the handling of the case was based on a complaint from OS through the @tim_zero86 social media account or the official account of the Directorate of Reserse PPA and PPO of the NTT Police.
In response to the report, personnel from the Directorate of Reserse PPA and PPO of the NTT Police, led by AKP Djafar Alkatiri, immediately went to the location to arrest JZP at his home in Fatukoa Village.
According to Nova, the rapid response after receiving reports from the public is a form of commitment from the NTT Police to provide protection for women and children, as well as to address every form of domestic violence.
“As soon as we received information that went viral on social media, officers immediately moved to the location to ensure the safety of the victim and take steps in accordance with legal procedures,” Nova explained.
After being arrested, Nova continued, JZP and his wife were immediately taken to the integrated police service center (SPKT) of the NTT Police to make a police report. Subsequently, they were handed over to investigators from the Directorate of Reserse PPA and PPO for further processing.
He emphasized that the use of social media as a means of public complaint is very helpful for law enforcement in responding quickly to various cases of violence that occur in society.
“We encourage the public not to be afraid to report if they experience or know about acts of violence against women and children. Currently, the case is being handled by the Directorate of Reserse PPA and PPO of the NTT Police for further legal proceedings,” Nova concluded.
