JAKARTA (JP): Kemayoran police officers arrested local television actor Hengky Tornado for possession of six grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, early on Saturday morning.

Central Jakarta police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Angesta Romano Yoyol said that Hengky was arrested with two other men.

"The police have a daily late night operation on the roads, where cars or motorcycles are stopped and searched for drugs. Hengky was arrested with two other men."

The three were in a Isuzu Panther van, at 2 a.m. on Saturday," Yoyol told reporters on Saturday.

In an unrelated development, Penjaringan police in North Jakarta arrested three people in two separate raids, for possession of 145 grams of shabu-shabu and 104 ecstasy pills, on Saturday.

City police identified the three suspects as Darwin Sipayung, Yance Maslin alias Akian and Mrs. Lilis Kurnia.

City police clerk, Rojak, said on Sunday that police arrested Darwin in the Pejagalan subdistrict of North Jakarta, at 3 p.m. on Saturday for possession of 4.5 grams of shabu-shabu.

Rojak said that Darwin reportedly told police that he had got the psychotropic substance from Akian, who lived on Jl. Gunung Sahari in Central Jakarta.

Police raided Akian's residence, and arrested him and his wife, Lilis, later on Saturday evening, when they found 140 grams of shabu-shabu and 104 ecstasy pills in Akian's house.

The drugs were confiscated by police, along with the Rp 10.75 million in cash that the suspects said they had received from drug sales. (ylt)
