Jakarta — Police have arrested the killer of Ermanto Usman (65), a retiree from PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), a subsidiary of Pelindo.

Ermanto died at his residence in Prima Lingkar Asri Housing Estate, Jatibening Village, Pondok Gede District, Bekasi City, on Monday, 2 March.

“Yes, it is true that the perpetrator has been arrested,” said AKBP Abdul Rahim, Head of Robbery and Assault Section at the Metro Jaya Police Regional Office, to journalists on Tuesday, 10 March.

Previously reported, Ermanto and his wife, Pasmilawati (60), were suspected of being victims of robbery coupled with assault that resulted in death on Monday.

Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, Head of Criminal Investigation at Bekasi City Metro Police Station, stated that preliminary investigation points towards robbery, although the precise motive is still under investigation.

“It is still under investigation; we cannot draw conclusions at this time. However, according to the statement of the victim’s child, a gold bracelet on their mother’s wrist is missing, and both car keys are missing,” Andi said at the scene on Monday.

When discovered, Ermanto was found on a bed covered in blood, whilst Pasmilawati was lying on the bedroom floor. Ermanto died at the scene, whilst his wife remained in critical condition and continues to receive intensive hospital care.

The current investigation involves personnel from Pondok Gede Police Precinct, Bekasi City Metro Police Station, and the Robbery and Assault Section of the Metro Jaya Police Regional Office to uncover the perpetrator and motive in the case.
