JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Mobile Brigade Criminal Investigation Unit (Resmob) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Polri has arrested two men with the initials AS and TS alias Ki Bedil. The pair were apprehended in connection with suspected possession and trafficking of illegal firearms and explosives. Head of the Resmob Unit at Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner Arsya Khadafi, stated that the case was uncovered on Monday (6/4/2026) at 15:45 WIB, at several locations in West Java. “The first arrest location was at Warung Nasi Ampera, Jalan Raya Cipacing, Sumedang Regency. At that site, officers secured a suspected perpetrator named AS,” Arsya said in his statement on Sunday (12/4/2026). From AS, the police seized one SIG Sauer P226 pistol along with its magazine, one unfinished homemade long-barrelled rifle sample, two .22 calibre bullets, as well as a black jacket and fishing bag. “Based on initial examination of AS, the team then conducted further development by dividing personnel into two groups,” he said. The first team proceeded to AS’s house in Rancaekek Kulon, Bandung Regency. At that location, officers found various ammunition in significant quantities, ranging from bullets of various calibres, projectiles, to equipment such as drill bits suspected to be used for making weapons. “From TS, the police seized four long-barrelled rifle barrels along with several tools used for assembling firearms,” he revealed. Arsya stated that this disclosure is part of the police’s efforts to eradicate the circulation of illegal firearms that could disrupt public security and order. “The perpetrator TS is known among illegal gun seekers as Ki Bedil, an expert in making illegal firearms including revolvers, rifles, and pistols. His buyers are mostly street crime perpetrators and illegal hunters,” Arsya said. “He has been operating for 20 years and has only now been caught,” he added. Currently, both perpetrators and the evidence have been secured for further investigation. The police are still developing the case to uncover any possible other networks in the illegal firearms trafficking.
