Police arrest jeans forgers
BANDUNG: Police have arrested three people suspected of
illegally selling and manufacturing jeans bearing the brand name
Carvil and confiscated 1,383 pairs of jeans as evidence, Antara
reported yesterday.
Police chief Lt. Col. Arie Soebowo said on Wednesday that the
raid was conducted following reports from PT Carvil Abadi, the
sole distributor of the foreign brand here.
Those arrested were identified only as LS and JK, residents of
Kiaracondong and Kopo Permai districts who have been selling the
fake jeans, and ZB who was suspected of producing the goods.
A pair of original Carvil jeans is priced at Rp 50,000
(approximately US$ 21) while a fake pair sells for Rp 13,000.
