Police Arrest Interpol Fugitive Jimmy Lie in Malaysia
The International Relations Division (Divhubinter) of the National Police (Polri), through the Indonesian Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) Secretariat, arrested Interpol fugitive Jimmy Lie. The fugitive in a bribery case involving land certificate processing through the Systematic Land Registration Programme (PTSL) in Tangerang Regency was apprehended by officers on Sunday, 8 March.
Jimmy Lie is an Indonesian citizen who has been listed on Interpol’s red notice since 22 September 2025. Jimmy was caught thanks to cooperation between Divhubinter Polri, Metro Tangerang City Police Precinct (Polres), and Malaysian authorities.
The Head of Jiantra Section of the NCB Interpol Divhubinter Polri, Senior Commissioner Ricky Purnama, explained that this success began with intensive coordination between the Divhubinter Polri team and Putrajaya Immigration authorities in Malaysia on 3 March 2026. The meeting discussed the request for an arrest and extradition operation for Jimmy Lie.
“As a follow-up, on 8 March 2026, the Malaysian Immigration authorities successfully secured the subject in their jurisdiction,” said Senior Commissioner Ricky in his statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.
On Sunday, 8 March, on the directive of the Head of the Indonesian Interpol NCB Secretariat Divhubinter Polri, Brigadier General Untung Widiatmoko, Polri’s technical staff (STP) at the Indonesian Consulate General in Penang were instructed to directly escort the subject to Indonesia.
“Given the limited direct flights from Penang to Jakarta, the subject was flown via the Penang route to Medan and arrived at Kualanamu International Airport at 17:30 WIB,” he added.
In parallel, a team from Divhubinter Polri together with the Criminal Investigation Unit of Metro Tangerang City Police Precinct departed from Jakarta towards Medan at 14:30 WIB to conduct official reception at Kualanamu Airport in Deli Serdang. After undergoing a fit-to-fly examination, Jimmy Lie was then flown to Jakarta on Sunday, 8 March at 20:00 WIB.
“The subject landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 22:30 WIB,” he added.
