Police Arrest Illegal Pharmacy Seller in Jagakarsa After Residents Seal Shop

Police have arrested a seller of the restricted drug tramadol on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, following a firm crackdown on drug abuse. The arrest was made after local residents sealed the shop, which was suspected of selling the hard drugs without a licence. “It is true that residents sealed the drug shop that was selling freely without a permit. We then made efforts to arrest the person selling freely without a permit,” said Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Nurma Dewi to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7). Nurma stated that her team is committed to making the Jagakarsa area free from the circulation of illegal drugs. She said the police have coordinated with local neighbourhood and community unit heads, as well as youth groups, to monitor the circulation of unlicensed hard drugs. She added that the police had conducted observations and approached community leaders regarding the suspected sale of tramadol in the area. “Yesterday we made the arrest, of course, colleagues already understand that we made the arrest yesterday,” she said. She confirmed that the kiosk proven to have sold the illegal hard drugs will be permanently closed and the perpetrator processed according to legal provisions. “It must be closed and the perpetrator must be processed,” she said. Police have now placed a police line at the shop suspected of selling the illegal tramadol in the Jagakarsa sub-district. This step is a form of the Jagakarsa Police’s commitment to eradicating the circulation of illegal drugs to maintain public safety and security. Previously, a viral video showed two people wearing clown masks claiming to be from a Netizen Representative Body. The pair were seen sealing a shop suspected of selling illegal drugs in Jagakarsa some time ago.
