Jakarta (ANTARA) – Police have arrested four suspects in a group assault during a cross-group brawl in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta, early Sunday (16 May) at around 03:00 WIB. ‘The joint team of Polsek Cilandak together with the Resmob Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan has secured four suspects in the group assault. The suspects’ initials are BS, AS, EBS, and ZA,’ said AKP Joko Adi, Head of Public Relations at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in Jakarta on Thursday. Joko said the suspects were secured by the joint team of Polsek Cilandak and Resmob Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan based on a police report received on 16 March 2026. The brawl that occurred on Sunday (16/3) in the early hours at Jalan Cilandak Dalam RT 06/RW 13, Cilandak Village, South Jakarta, began when two groups met and became involved in a brawl, during which one victim was beaten by the perpetrators. Joko noted that all the perpetrators are adults and not part of a motorcycle gang. ‘These are two groups that are not motorcycle gangs,’ he said. In the case’s development, police recovered evidence including CCTV footage and two motorcycles. One suspect, with initials AS, was identified by the victim, which helped police to arrest the other suspects. ‘It started from a suspect AS who was recognised by the victim, then we could arrest the others,’ he said. As a result of the incident, the victim sustained stab wounds to the left side of the head and the right hand. Nevertheless, the victim’s condition has gradually recovered and he is able to resume activities. The police charged the suspects under Article 262 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Penal Code for the offence of jointly committing violence against persons or property in public.
