Police Arrest Four More Suspects in Sampang Gang Rape Case, Two Are Minors

Police have arrested four more suspects in the gang rape of a girl in Sampang Regency, East Java, bringing the total number of arrests to 17. Two of the newly detained suspects are minors.

Sampang Police Chief AKBP Hartono stated that a total of 17 suspects have now been apprehended, with one individual facing charges in two separate cases. The arrests were carried out by a joint team from the East Java Regional Police’s Directorate of Women and Children Protection and Anti-Trafficking (PPA-PPO) and the Sampang Police.

According to the results of an intensive investigation, the sexual assaults were not an isolated incident but occurred six times between February and June 2026. The perpetrators carried out their actions across three sub-districts: Sampang, Camplong, and Omben. Ten other suspects remain at large and have been placed on the wanted list.
