Police arrest four methamphetamine dealers in Mampang
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have arrested four methamphetamine dealers in the Mampang area of South Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6) evening at 6 p.m. local time. The four suspects have been identified as AK, FF, FA, and AFA.
Mampang Police Chief AKP Dian Pornomo stated that the operation began after police received information regarding narcotics abuse in the Kemang area. An operational team led by Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Purwa Aditya then proceeded to the location.
After conducting monitoring and observation, the team became suspicious of a woman later identified as AFA. Upon searching her, officers found a small plastic clip containing 0.28 grammes of methamphetamine hidden inside a cigarette packet.
Following interrogation, AFA revealed that the drugs were sourced from AK, who was staying at a boarding house in the Gandaria Selatan area, Cilandak district. The team then moved to the specified location and successfully apprehended the three other suspects, AK, FF, and FA.
It was determined that AK was responsible for possessing, storing, controlling, and selling the class one narcotics, while FF, FA, and AFA acted as intermediaries in the drug transactions. Police are still investigating the wider drug syndicate network, including the main supplier.
The suspects are charged under Article 114 paragraph 2 of Indonesian Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, in conjunction with Article 609 paragraph 2 letter A of the Criminal Code under Law Number 1 of 2023, and Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009. They face a maximum penalty of death, life imprisonment, or a prison sentence ranging from six to 20 years.
