Police Arrest Five Suspects in Burglary of a Swiftlet Nest Building in Paser, East Kalimantan

Polsek Long Ikis, Polres Paser, East Kalimantan have arrested five suspects in a case of aggravated theft involving the burglary of a swiftlet nest building owned by a resident in Desa Pait, Kecamatan Long Ikis, Paser Regency. The arrests were confirmed by AKBP Novy Adi Wibowo, through Polsek Long Ikis Chief Slamet Hafidin, on Thursday (21/5), and the suspects are currently in custody for further legal proceedings. The five suspects have the initials RMH (26), AF alias U (22), SA (44), H (48), and RH (26). According to the suspects’ confessions, the theft occurred on Sunday 15 March 2026 at around 03:00 WITA at the swiftlet nest building belonging to the victim Suwarjo (65). The suspects allegedly forced entry using a screwdriver and, after entering, harvested the swiftlet nests using a parang. In addition to the swiftlet nests, the suspects also took a battery and other equipment, resulting in total losses of around Rp4 million. The disclosure of the case began with the victim reporting to Long Ikis Police on Saturday (16/5). The Criminal Investigation Unit then conducted an inquiry and managed to secure two initial suspects at a shop in Desa Pait, followed by further development. As a result, three more suspects were arrested. From the suspects, police also seized evidence including 1 crowbar, 1 Yuasa battery, and 1 door handle set. The suspects face charges under Article 477 of the Indonesian Criminal Code for burglary with aggravating circumstances, with penalties as prescribed by law. The Long Ikis Police Station urges the public to report any criminal activity to the 110 call centre, which is a toll-free number, if they have information about crimes in their surroundings.
