Police Arrest Five Motorcycle Thieves in Tangerang, Seize Homemade Firearm and Bullets
The Kelapa Dua Police Unit apprehended five motorcycle theft suspects in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency, Banten. Evidence, including a homemade firearm and four bullets, was seized.
The arrest occurred in front of the Fifth Avenue shophouses, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency, on Tuesday (24/2) at approximately 00:25 local time. The victim, identified as O (22), initially reported the theft after his motorcycle disappeared while parked on the side of the road, secured with a handlebar lock and a disc lock.
“Based on information that the vehicle was equipped with a GPS tracker, the Criminal Investigation Unit, led by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Rovi, immediately launched an investigation and search,” said Kelapa Dua Police Chief AKP Rokhmatulloh in a statement to reporters on Thursday (26/2/2026).
The Kelapa Dua Police Unit successfully located the vehicle in the Pagedangan area, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The five suspects were arrested around 02:00 local time.
“Initial investigations revealed that the suspects’ modus operandi involved using a T-shaped key to steal the motorcycles,” he said.
The five suspects, namely A (28), KN (29), N (22), F (21), and SE (21), are from Lampung. Evidence seized includes four motorcycles, three T-shaped keys, and a homemade firearm with four bullets.
“As a result of this operation, several pieces of evidence were secured, including four motorcycles, three T-shaped keys with ten key heads, three motorcycle contact key magnets, and one homemade revolver-type firearm with four bullets,” he explained.
The suspects are charged under Article 477 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning aggravated theft, and they face a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
