Police arrest firework producers

JAKARTA: The police arrested 19 suspects and confiscated
hundreds of thousands of fireworks in a police operation in
Tangerang between Oct. 9 and Oct. 12, Antara reported on
Thursday.

"They were caught at 13 locations from where we believe they
produced and distributed fireworks within the jurisdiction of the
Tangerang Police," city police spokesman Sr. Comr. I Ketut Untung
Yoga Ana said.

He said that the police had confiscated more than 190,000
fireworks during the operation, adding that they had also seized
hundreds of bottles of various types of intoxicating liquor and
arrested five suspects in connection with licensing offenses at
three locations.

"We will continue with this operation to ensure a safe fasting
month and Idul Fitri holiday," he said. -- JP
