A case of fraud against an egg seller in Sumedang Regency, West Java, perpetrated by a fake TNI member has been uncovered. Police have arrested the perpetrator, identified as Enjang alias Topan (64 years old).

The case of the fake TNI member scamming an egg seller in Haurgombong Village, Pamulihan Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency, on 14 April 2026, went viral on social media. Dressed in full TNI uniform and claiming to be a captain, the perpetrator ordered 270 kilograms of eggs under the pretext of holding a bazaar. The victim suffered a loss of Rp750,000.

“The perpetrator has committed fraud in several areas, pretending to be a TNI member and claiming to organise a bazaar event. After receiving the goods, payment was never made,” said Sumedang Police Chief AKBP Sandityo Mahardika on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

In his operation in the Pamulihan Subdistrict area of Sumedang, the perpetrator ordered 270 kilograms of eggs from the victim on the grounds of a social activity and then requested they be delivered to the local subdistrict office.

After the goods arrived, the victim was directed to unload the eggs onto the perpetrator’s white Honda HR-V vehicle and then asked to meet someone purportedly his wife for payment processing via ATM, but no payment was ever made.

Police investigations reveal that the perpetrator did not only operate in Sumedang but also in several other areas in West Java, including Bandung City, Bandung Barat, Majalengka, Garut, and Bandung Regency, using the same pattern and modus operandi.
