Police arrest eight for drugs

JAKARTA: Police in Menteng, Central Jakarta, arrested eight people on drugs charges, including a 34-year-old Army captain.

Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Edmon Ilyas said two of the suspects were arrested on Sunday morning at the Hotel Menteng on Jl. Suroso in Menteng.

The two suspects were identified as Harold Hokoyoko, a 34-year-old Army captain who resides in Tangerang, Banten, and Margaretha Sondang Yunita, a 33-year-old housewife who resides on Jl. Pinang Raya in Pondok Labu, South Jakarta.

The police confiscated six packages of crystal methamphetamine and two ecstasy pills from the suspects, detik.com reported.

After questioning the pair, the police then arrested Tenti Eka Asmara, a resident of Tebet, South Jakarta; Syapei, a resident of Pasuruan, East Java; Edi, a resident of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta; and Andi, Reza and Billy, all residents of Jakarta.

The seven civilian suspects are being detained by the police for further questioning, while Harold Hokoyoko is in Army custody.--JP
