Bekasi City Metropolitan Police arrested a man identified as AS (35) in a drug case. Police seized 44 kilograms of ganja.

‘Overall, the police have secured 44 kg of ganja ready to be distributed to Bekasi and its surroundings,’ said Kombes Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, the head of Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

The ganja case was uncovered on Tuesday (3/3) at three different locations, from roadside spots to a rented house used as a warehouse for the illicit goods. The suspect and all evidence have been secured at Mapolrestro Bekasi Kota for in-depth examination.

Narcotics Head of the Bekasi City Police, Kompol Untung Riswaji, said that initially his officers caught AS as he was about to transact ganja in the Sumber Arta Bekasi area. Police then expanded the case to the storage location.

‘Not far from the transaction site there was a house used as storage; two sacks of ganja were found there. It turned out to be his mother’s rented house at Bintara Jaya 6,’ he said.

Around 30 kg of ganja were in the two sacks at that house. The search then continued to AS’s house in Tambun Utara.

‘In Tambun Utara, 10 kg were found. That is the suspect’s house. So total 44 kg,’ he said.

Police are continuing to develop the case by seeking the supplier to AS, a person with the alias initial B. According to AS’s statement, B frequently moves from place to place.

‘So for this AS, since December there has been a sale once on B’s instruction, according to his statement to Surabaya and Malang. B has recently shipped 15 kg to Surabaya. Indeed, his distribution network operates in our area — Bekasi, Jakarta, Depok,’ he explained.

As a result of his actions, the suspect AS is charged under Article 114(2) in conjunction with Article 111(2) of Indonesian Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2026 on the Penalties Adjustment, with a maximum penalty of the death penalty or life imprisonment.
