Police arrest driver who raped a domestic worker in North Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Criminal Investigation Unit for the Protection of Women, Children, Protection against Trafficking in Persons (PPA-PPO) of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Jakarta Utara) has arrested a driver suspected of raping two domestic workers who had only been employed for a few days at a house in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta (Jakut). ‘The vile act occurred when the employer was not at home,’ said Kompol Ni Luh Sri Arsini, head of the PPA-PPO at the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in Jakarta on Friday. She said the suspect had been secured on Thursday (21 May) night, and is currently undergoing examination at Polres Metro Jakarta Utara. In addition, she said, they are also still examining reports related to the incident and the victims are undergoing a medical examination. Sri said that based on the investigation, the suspect admitted to raping only one of the domestic workers, while the other domestic worker was only groped. ‘This domestic worker is young, and the perpetrator did it because he was attracted every time he saw her,’ Sri said. At present, she said, officers are still deepening the case and awaiting the results of the medical examination conducted on the victims. ‘We are still in the process of investigation and prosecution of this case,’ Sri concluded.
