Police Arrest Driver and Seize Truck in Hit-and-Run That Killed Scout Leader 'Kak Herman' in Tangerang

Police have arrested AD (21), the perpetrator of a hit-and-run that killed Scout leader Herman Sulistyo (71), and seized the truck involved in the incident in Cikupa, Tangerang Regency. Based on photos received, the green truck bears the registration number D-8319-GL and is a large vehicle used for transporting logistics.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday evening (11/6) at his home in Cikalongwetan District, Bandung Regency. “We also secured a six-wheeled Fuso vehicle with registration number D-8319-GL,” said Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah on Friday (12/6/2026). “AD is suspected of being the driver of the Fuso vehicle,” Indra stated.

Indra explained that Herman was struck by the Fuso truck on Sunday (7/6) at around 1:00 a.m. WIB. At the time, the victim was cycling in Bitung Jaya Village, Cikupa District. Officers who arrived at the scene took the victim to Balaraja Regional General Hospital.

Herman Sulistyo was a prominent Scout leader in Greater Tangerang and Banten, widely known for his dedication to upholding true Scouting values in daily life. Affectionately called “Kak Herman,” a common term in the Scouting world, he consistently wore his full Scout uniform on various occasions, both formal and everyday. He always cycled to attend Scouting activities.

Before his burial, Kak Herman’s body was prayed over at the Al-A’zhom Grand Mosque in Tangerang City on Sunday afternoon (7/6), attended by several regional officials and Scout members from across Banten. He was laid to rest at the Rawa Kucing Public Cemetery in Neglasari District, Tangerang City, in a Scouting ceremony.
