Police arrest debt collector who forced his way into a car
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have arrested a debt collector suspected of forcing his way into a car and committing violence against a driver travelling along the West Outer Ring Road in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.
“The report was filed with Cengkareng Police and the suspect has been detained,” said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Nasriadi, when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.
However, Nasriadi has not yet provided further details regarding the suspect’s identity, the chronology of the arrest, or the specifics of the case.
When contacted separately, Cengkareng Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Adjunct Police Commissioner Parman Gultom, also confirmed that the suspected perpetrator had been detained by police. “The suspect has been detained,” said Gultom.
Previously, a video of a debt collector allegedly forcing his way into a car went viral on social media on Friday (21/8).
In the video, a man believed to be a debt collector, wearing black clothing and a red cap, can be seen sitting in the middle seat of a car.
According to the post’s caption, the man entered the car without permission and allegedly forced and threatened the driver. He is also said to have put the driver in a chokehold while the vehicle was still moving.
“In the incident, the debt collector is said to have entered the car without permission, forced and threatened the driver, and allegedly put the driver in a chokehold while he was driving,” the post stated, as quoted on Sunday (23/8).
The video also shows a verbal altercation between the man believed to be a debt collector and a woman who was a passenger and the person recording the video.
The woman repeatedly asked the man to get out of the car and asked the driver not to stop the vehicle. However, the man appeared to shout at the woman during the argument.
