Police Arrest Brunei Social Media Influencer in Fatal Blok M Assault Case
Jakarta’s Polda Metro Jaya has arrested a Brunei national and social media influencer identified as MIA (33), suspected of assaulting a man, MHF (30), to death in the Blok M area of South Jakarta’s Kebayoran Baru.
Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, Polda Metro Jaya spokesperson, stated that the suspect, known by the Instagram handle @Woodyrman, was apprehended early Monday (25/5).
“The team arrested one suspect, MIA, male, 33, a foreign national from Brunei Darussalam, on Monday, 25 May 2026, in the Kebayoran Lama area of South Jakarta,” he told reporters on Tuesday (26/5).
Budi explained the assault occurred on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, at approximately 03:30 WIB, in front of Restu Sport at Blok M Hub, Melawai, Kebayoran Baru.
He said the victim was sitting with several witnesses near the location when the suspect arrived with a companion in a car at 03:28 WIB.
“Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect carried a black paper bag suspected to contain glass bottles, then approached the victim leading to an argument at the Blok M Hub entrance,” he said.
Budi added the dispute moved to the front of Restu Sport, after which the suspect immediately struck the victim on the head with the paper bag containing glass bottles, causing him to fall.
Following the incident, the victim was taken to RSPP hospital for medical treatment, but his condition deteriorated, leading to his death on 16 May 2026.
“The suspect has been taken to Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation,” he concluded.
The suspect faces charges under Article 466(3) and/or Article 468(2) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code concerning assault resulting in death.
