Bali Regional Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya explained that the arrest of the red notice fugitive, an international fugitive issued by the Spanish Police, took place on March 28, 2026, at the International Arrivals Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.

“The suspect is the leader of a large-scale transnational criminal organization involved in narcotics trafficking and money laundering in Spain and the United Kingdom,” Adityajaya stated in a press conference on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Bali Regional Police, Senior Commissioner I Gede Adhi Muliawarman, explained that SL’s arrest was part of ‘Operation Armourum,’ a joint investigation initiated by the Spanish Civil Guard’s Central Operative Unit and the Scottish Police.

In a simultaneous operation prior to Steven Lyons’ arrest in Bali, European police arrested 33 members of the Lyons syndicate in Scotland and 12 in Spain.

Following the arrest in Europe, the Abu Dhabi National Crime Agency (NCB) informed that Steven Lyons was traveling to Indonesia.

“Based on intelligence information and international cooperation from both the police and immigration, we immediately put security on alert in the arrivals area upon SL’s arrival,” Muliawarman remarked.

Meanwhile, Bugie Kurniawan, Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, stated that SL arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali on Singapore Airlines flight SQ-938, en route from Singapore to Denpasar, on March 28, 2026.

“During the immigration checkpoint, the system detected SL as the subject of an Interpol red notice. Based on intelligence data, SL is suspected of being the leader of an international criminal organization involved in money laundering and managing fictitious companies,” he stated.

Following the successful apprehension, Ngurah Rai Immigration immediately handed the fugitive over to the airport police.

Red notice subject Steven Lyons is currently in detention at the Bali Regional Police Headquarters before being flown to Spain.
