Cilincing Police have arrested one of two ‘bridge jumpers’ (bajing loncat) caught on camera stealing goods from a delivery vehicle passing through the Cilincing Flats bridge area on Jalan Akses Marunda, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5).

“We have arrested one perpetrator, identified by the initials RS, while another remains at large,” stated Cilincing Police Chief, AKP Bobi Subasri, in Jakarta on Monday.

He explained that the incident occurred on Tuesday (12/5) at approximately 21:00 WIB. At the time, traffic on the Cilincing Flats bridge was experiencing congestion, providing an opportunity for the two perpetrators to carry out their actions.

Subasri noted that the suspect, known as RS or ‘Bocor’, was apprehended on Thursday (14/5) and is currently being held at the Cilincing Police Station for further investigation and interrogation. Authorities are continuing their investigation and pursuit of the second suspect, who is currently on the wanted list.

The Police Chief expressed gratitude to the public for their active participation in providing information to maintain a safe and conducive security situation. “We emphasise that there is no room for criminals to operate in the Cilincing area. If the community finds any indications of criminal activity, please immediately contact 110 for police assistance,” Subasri added.

Previously, a video had circulated showing two men suspected of being ‘bridge jumpers’ climbing onto and stealing items from a passing goods vehicle. After the theft, the suspects fled towards the area beneath the bridge, where they dropped the stolen goods.
