Police Arrest 'Bang Jago' for Extorting Drivers of B-Plate Vehicles in Dago Atas to Fund Drinking
Police have arrested Bang Jago for extorting drivers of B-plate vehicles in the Dago Atas area of Bandung. Authorities stated the extortion was carried out because the suspect wanted extra money for drinking.
Coblong Police Chief Inspector Riki Erickson confirmed the suspect has been detained for questioning, adding that the individual was under the influence of alcohol and sought to purchase more liquor.
“Motivation-wise, during the euphoria they were drinking together. So perhaps they were short on money or something, and they asked for money to buy more drinks,” said Riki on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The incident occurred on Saturday, May 23, shortly after Persib Bandung celebrated winning the 2025/2026 Super League title. The suspect is suspected to be a Bobotoh member celebrating the championship.
In the circulating video, the suspect was not wearing a shirt and only had a scarf around his neck. He questioned the driver’s place of origin and, upon learning the victim was from outside the area, demanded money under the pretence of ensuring safe passage. He threatened to destroy the vehicle if demands were not met.
“Add it… add it… add it… want to destroy in front, already coordinated with Demon,” the suspect said.
“Just give whatever you want – Rp50,000 or more, it’s up to you. Whatever,” he added.
