Police arrest armed motorcycle-theft syndicate in Serang; two pistols seized
The Kramatwatu Police Sector of Serang City Police (Polresta Serang Kota) reported that on Friday 15 May 2026, at around 13:20 local time, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kramatwatu Police Sector received information from the public regarding motor vehicle theft. ‘In follow-up to the information, the Kramatwatu Police Sector Criminal Investigation Unit immediately conducted enquiries and chased the perpetrators,’ said Bai Mamun, on Wednesday 20 May 2026. From the report, police arrested four suspects in front of a minimarket area on Jalan Raya Serang-Waringinkurung, Kramatwatu. The four suspects were men with the initials AH (33), YP (39), SA (21), and JK (33). ‘From the suspects, the evidences seized include two improvised revolvers and ten rounds of ammunition. Then, two T-handle wrenches and a master key,’ he said. In addition, police also secured two motorcycles used by the suspects to commit theft and one motorcycle belonging to a victim. At present, investigators of the Kramatwatu Police Sector are still questioning the suspects. In addition, police have secured the evidence and are completing the investigation records for further legal proceedings. ‘The Kramatwatu Police Sector urges the public to always be vigilant against motor vehicle crime and to report suspicious activity in the surroundings to the police promptly,’ he said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Kramatwatu Kota Police Sector, Ipda Andri Setiawan, added that the firearms were always carried by the perpetrators. They could brandish the firearms if they are seen or blocked by residents. ‘They carry firearms. At the time of arrest, there were no shots fired,’ said Andri.
