Police Arrest Angkot Driver Who Robbed Grocery Store

Deni Saputra (48), a public minivan (angkot) driver from Cimahi, West Java, has been arrested by police. Not for lacking a driving licence, but for breaking into a grocery store and causing the owner losses of tens of millions of rupiah.

The incident occurred on Thursday (20/8/2026) at around 06.00 WIB at a grocery store on Jalan Ibu Ganirah, RT 06, RW 05, Cibeber Subdistrict, South Cimahi District, Cimahi City. The case was uncovered during the Libas Lodaya 2026 operation.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Cimahi Police, AKP Teguh Kumara, revealed that the aggravated theft was carried out by the suspect Deni alone. He broke through the door of the grocery store to plunder its goods.

“Once inside, the perpetrator took various merchandise. He used his angkot to transport the goods,” said Teguh at Cimahi Police Headquarters on Monday (31/8/2026).

Among the items stolen by the suspect Deni were 21 three-kilogram LPG canisters, around 550 packs of cigarettes of various brands worth approximately Rp17 million, and one jerry can containing 15 litres of Pertalite petrol. As a result of the incident, the store owner suffered losses estimated at around Rp21 million.
