Police arrested 11 individuals during a patrol in Central Jakarta, seizing thousands of illegal drugs and sharp weapons from the suspects. ‘During the operation, police secured 11 individuals who are currently under investigation for alleged possession of narcotics, illegal drugs, and other criminal activities,’ said Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, Chief of Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in a statement to journalists on Thursday (28 May 2026). The operation took place at multiple high-crime locations in the early hours of Thursday (28 May), running from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM WIB. It involved 287 combined personnel from Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police and local police stations. Commissioner Reynold personally led the patrol alongside combined TNI-Polri personnel, inspecting major roads and high-risk security areas across Central Jakarta. ‘During the patrol, officers apprehended two men found carrying T-shaped keys while riding Honda Vario motorcycles. Both are suspected of motor vehicle theft and are undergoing further investigation,’ he added. Additionally, Tanah Abang Police Station officers discovered 33.12 grams of synthetic tobacco, 1,202 tramadol pills, 116 Hexymer pills, and empty plastic clips suspected for packaging illegal drugs. ‘In Cempaka Putih, police also found small packages of suspected crystal methamphetamine and synthetic tobacco, along with strong medications such as excimer and tramadol from several drivers checked during the operation,’ he said. In addition to seizing narcotics and illegal drugs, officers confiscated one unclaimed clurit (a type of machete) and several motorcycles lacking proper registration documents or license plates. Reynold stated that patrols will continue regularly to curb crime and maintain a secure environment. The police will not tolerate any criminal activity or drug trafficking within the jurisdiction of Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police. ‘We will strictly enforce any law violations that threaten public safety. We also urge the public to work together in maintaining security and order,’ Reynold said. ‘Overall, public security and order remained stable and conducive throughout the operation,’ he added.
