Police Appreciate Workers' Orderly Expression of Aspirations on May Day 2026
Head of the Polri Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the conducive situation reflects that the expression of aspirations can proceed alongside the safeguarding of public order. “Polri appreciates the labour masses who expressed their aspirations in an orderly manner during the International Labour Day commemoration today. This demonstrates a disciplined attitude in voicing opinions as well as shared responsibility to keep the situation safe and conducive,” said Isir in his statement in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026). He emphasised that the relationship between police apparatus and workers during the event was based on a spirit of mutual respect. He assured that Polri was present to escort the course of the aspiration expression. “We see a good sense of mutual respect between personnel in the field and the worker brothers. Polri respects the public’s right to express opinions, and the action participants also helped maintain order together,” said Isir. Isir revealed that a humane approach continues to be prioritised by all ranks in securing May Day in Jakarta and various other regions. The activities ran smoothly without disturbing broader public interests. “Polri also conveys thanks to all labour elements, worker unions, and the public who have jointly maintained a peaceful atmosphere during the 2026 International Labour Day commemoration,” he concluded.
