Police anticipate Adrian's next move
BANDUNG: National Police Chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar indicated on Monday there was a possibility that Adrian Wowuruntu, a key suspect in the Rp 1.7 trillion (US$185 billion) BNI scandal, might file an immigration appeal to evade arrest by the Indonesian police.
Da'i said it would take the police longer to capture Adrian if he were to take such an action.
Adrian was put on the wanted list on Oct. 1, 2004 after police failed to locate him in Kotamubagu, North Sulawesi, where he had said he was undergoing medical treatment.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation said Adrian was detected in Los Angeles, California.
To capture Adrian, Indonesian police have asked Interpol to deal with the FBI as Indonesia and the U.S. do not have an extradition agreement. -- JP
