Police Anti-Corruption Unit Seizes Rp476 Billion in Assets from Sentul Home
Bogor Regency (ANTARA) - A team of investigators from the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Corps (Kortastipkor) Polri has seized gold bullion, foreign currency and cash worth approximately Rp476 billion from a house in the Sentul area of Bogor Regency, West Java, in the early hours of Thursday.
Head of Kortastipidkor Polri Inspector General Totok Suhatyanto, speaking after the search, said the seizure was carried out at the luxury house in Sentul as part of an investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering offences.
“We found a locked safe which, once opened, contained seven suitcases holding 74 kilograms of gold bullion, 4,767,300 US dollars, 14,083,800 Singapore dollars, and cash amounting to Rp100 million,” Totok said.
In addition to the gold and cash, investigators also seized a number of documents, mobile telephones and several family photographs believed to be connected to the owner of the house or the owner of the items stored in the safe.
“The items will subsequently be confiscated as evidence,” Totok said.
The search of the house in Sentul formed part of a series of raids carried out by a joint team from Kortastipidkor Polri and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police across 12 locations in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
According to Budi, the investigation relates to several cases, including alleged corruption at PT PLN (Persero), PT Asabri (Persero) and PT Krakatau Steel, as well as the settlement of debts owed by PT CBS to PT KNI.
He added that the investigation has drawn the attention of President Prabowo Subianto as part of anti-corruption efforts, and the police are therefore working intensively to uncover the case.
