Police and Military Tightly Guard Reading of Hotel Sultan Execution Order

A number of police and military personnel provided tight security during the reading of the execution order for the Hotel Sultan land in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area of Central Jakarta on Thursday (18/6).

Observations showed that police officers formed barricades and surrounded the clerk of the Central Jakarta District Court during the reading of the execution decree. Meanwhile, in front of the court, police and military personnel also established security perimeters throughout the proceedings.

During the reading, the clerk first summoned the relevant parties, including PT Indobuildco, as the respondent in the execution. However, after being summoned three times, representatives from PT Indobuildco failed to appear.

During the reading of the verdict, protesters opposing the execution also formed lines in front of Hotel Sultan, with an orator delivering speeches from atop a command vehicle.

“Granting the petitioners’ requests. Second, ordering the Clerk of the Central Jakarta District Court, or if unavailable, appointing a competent bailiff accompanied by two witnesses and, if necessary, with the assistance of the Indonesian National Police or other state power instruments, to carry out the eviction execution,” stated the Central Jakarta District Court clerk, Azhar.

“And returning to the reconventional plaintiffs the land area of former HGB 26/Gelora and former HGB 27/Gelora, including the buildings and everything attached to them. Third, determining the costs arising from this decree in accordance with the law,” he added.
