Police and Military Struggle to Extinguish Forest Fires in Bengkalis, Maintaining 24-Hour Vigil

The fire has been burning since Monday, 1 June 2026. As of the third day, Wednesday (3/6/2026), a joint team remains on-site to extinguish the flames. Hotspot points were monitored via the Lancang Kuning Dashboard (DLK) with medium and low confidence levels, based on observations from NASA’s NOAA-20 satellite. These points are located within wild acacia forest areas bordering the concessions of PT Priatama and PT SRL in Tanjung Kapal Village.

The team, led by Rupat Police Chief AKP Faisal along with his personnel, conducted direct field verification on Tuesday (2/6). Field inspections confirmed that the detected hotspots are active fire points currently undergoing suppression and cooling efforts by the joint team.

To accelerate the response, the Rupat Police Chief and the Rupat Military District Commander (Danramil) are directly leading the suppression and cooling operations. The effort involves personnel from the Rupat Police, Koramil 04 Rupat, the Rupat District Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Fire Care Community (MPA) of Tanjung Kapal Village, RPK PT SRL, PT Priatama, the Rupat District Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and PT MMJ.

“In addition to daytime activities, PT SRL and PT Priatama are also continuing suppression and cooling operations throughout the night, supported by the Tanjung Kapal MPA, to ensure the fire does not reignite,” stated AKP Faisal in his report.

At present, the joint team continues to struggle with extinguishing the fire at the site. Officers are spraying areas that are still emitting smoke. Cooling efforts are being carried out continuously to anticipate any embers stored beneath the land surface. The suppression and cooling processes remain ongoing under strict supervision to prevent the fire from spreading and to ensure the situation remains safe and controlled.
