Police and Jakarta Online Taxi Drivers Strengthen Public Security Synergy through Social Service

The Indonesian National Police organised a social service event with hundreds of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers in Jakarta to commemorate the 80th Bhayangkara Day. The Police and Jakarta’s ojol drivers are committed to continuously strengthening synergy in maintaining public security and order. The social service event with ojol drivers was held at Taman Proklamator, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/6/2026). The Commander of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Dankorbrimob) and Chairman of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary Committee, Commissioner General Ramdani Hidayat, explained that 550 social service packages were distributed to ojol drivers. He explained that the social services provided by the Police were not limited to social assistance, but also included health services and other activities. Commissioner General Ramdani stated that this was part of the series of events leading up to the 80th Bhayangkara Day, which will be held on 1 July 2026. He reported that around 550 people attended and noted that social services, health services, and social assistance would continue throughout the year, not just ahead of 1 July. Commissioner General Ramdani expressed hope that this activity would help realise the slogan ‘Police for the community’ as envisioned by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit and the institution. He also affirmed that the Police are always open to criticism and suggestions from the public, stating that police presence should be genuinely needed by the community and that they require input on what to improve. Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the 80th Bhayangkara Social Service and Head of the Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, added that ojol drivers are friends of the Police. Inspector General Agus highlighted the crucial role of ojol drivers, who frequently provide roadside information to assist police duties. He announced plans to form ‘Ojol Nusantara’, emphasising that a WhatsApp group has been created for rapid information sharing on road-level matters to maintain public safety and order. Inspector General Agus urged ojol drivers to comply more strictly with traffic regulations for collective safety, specifically mentioning violations such as riding against the flow and using covered or missing licence plates. He stated that the Police would continue to engage closely with ojol communities to ensure they are orderly and do not violate traffic rules. Inspector General Agus further detailed that the Police will distribute a total of 300,000 social aid packages nationwide, alongside providing clean water in specific areas, renovating nearly 130 houses, and cleaning places of worship. A representative of the ojol community, Erna, expressed appreciation for the social service activity, stating that it demonstrates the Police’s commitment to being present among the community and building close relationships with various elements of the nation.
