Police and IPB Investigate Alleged Sexual Harassment of Student
Viral posts containing allegations of sexual harassment against a female student at IPB University in Bogor, West Java, have circulated widely on social media, prompting action from both police and campus authorities.
The Office of Campus Safety, Security and Protection at IPB has coordinated with faculty and the university’s sexual violence task force to investigate the allegations and establish the facts surrounding the incident, according to Alfian Helmy, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Communications and Marketing, in a statement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
“The matter is still under identification and internal investigation,” Helmy added.
The allegations of sexual harassment by a student against a female IPB student spread across social media platforms, with a student organisation account calling on the IPB Student Executive Board to take a position on the matter.
Helmy stated that the university is committed to handling all reports of alleged sexual violence seriously, professionally and fairly. The university does not tolerate any form of sexual violence on campus and will investigate any information related to alleged violations carefully in accordance with established mechanisms and procedures.
According to AKP Silfi Adi Putri, Head of the Women and Child Protection Unit at Bogor Police Station, no formal complaint has yet been received from the alleged victim. Police are currently conducting preliminary investigations into the matter.
“We have not yet received a formal report; we are currently approaching IPB to gather information related to the allegations,” Silfi said.
