Police and Attorney General's Office strengthen synergy through enhanced partnership

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) are strengthening synergy through enhanced partnership and collaboration between the two institutions. The reinforcement was discussed during a visit by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, accompanied by several key officials from the National Police Headquarters, to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and his staff at the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Monday. “Of course, everything we are doing is aimed at continuing to provide a sense of justice for the public who need legal services,” said Listyo Sigit. The Police Chief revealed that the meeting included discussions on plans for an exchange of education between the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police, so that all coordination, particularly within the criminal justice system, can be improved. He expressed hope that the synergy and collaboration between the two law enforcement institutions can assist the public in need of legal services, both in terms of legal certainty and justice. “What is clear is that the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police are one big family, and we will continue to maintain the solidity and synergy that exists within this big family. That is what we will continue to implement together with the Attorney General for our future programmes,” he said. Meanwhile, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin stressed the importance of strengthening the synergy that has long been built between the two institutions. According to him, a good investigation will result in a good prosecution, and a good prosecution will lead to a good verdict. “That is our obligation, our necessity to synergise,” he said. The leader of the Adhyaksa Corps also dismissed the notion that the Police and the Attorney General’s Office are rivals. “Friends, do not think that we are rivals, that we are versus each other, no. We have known each other personally for a long time. Then we are together, I became the Attorney General, he became the National Police Chief,” he said.
