Police and Attorney General's Office strengthen synergy through enhanced partnership
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) and the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) are strengthening their synergy through enhanced partnership and collaboration between the two institutions.
The strengthening was discussed during a visit by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, accompanied by several senior officials (PJU) from National Police Headquarters, to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and his staff at the main building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Monday.
“Certainly, everything we are doing here is aimed at continuously providing a sense of justice for members of the public who need legal services,” said Listyo Sigit.
The National Police Chief revealed that during the meeting, the two sides discussed plans for educational exchanges between the Attorney General’s Office and Polri so that all coordination, particularly within the criminal justice system framework, can be improved.
He expressed hope that the synergy and collaboration between the two law enforcement institutions can help members of the public who need legal services, both in terms of legal certainty and justice.
“What is clear is that the Attorney General’s Office and the police are one big family, and we will continue to maintain the solidity and synergy within this family. That is what we will continue to implement together with the Attorney General for our future programmes,” he said.
Meanwhile, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin emphasised the importance of strengthening the synergy between the two institutions, which has been built over a long period. According to him, good investigative work leads to good prosecutions, and good prosecutions lead to good court rulings.
“That is our obligation, our necessity to synergise,” he said.
The head of the Adhyaksa Corps also dismissed suggestions that Polri and the Attorney General’s Office are rivals.
“Friends, do not think that we are rivals, that we are opponents — no. We have known each other personally for a long time. Then we both rose to our positions — I became Attorney General, and he became National Police Chief,” he said.
Among the senior National Police Headquarters officials present at the meeting were Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency Commissioner General Syahardiantono, Head of the Tipidkor Task Force Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, and Head of the Public Information Bureau Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir.
Meanwhile, officials from the Attorney General’s Office in attendance included the Junior Attorney General for Military Crimes Major General Ali Ridho, Junior Attorney General for Intelligence Reda Manthovani, and Head of the Asset Recovery Agency at the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office Kuntadi.
