Police Advise Homecoming Travellers to Use 110 Hotline for Security Assistance
Jakarta — Indonesia’s national police headquarters (Mabes Polri) has urged homecoming travellers to utilise the 110 hotline service if they require security assistance during their journeys.
“We continually pray for everyone’s safety. However, should assistance be needed, please call 110. This is a free service and Polri will respond quickly,” said Irjen Pol. Johnny Eddizon Isir, Head of Police Public Relations, at the police public relations office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In addition, he urged travellers using two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before departing.
“Please check the brakes, please check the tyres, please check the lights,” he added.
He also advised travellers to rest when feeling fatigued and not to force themselves to continue travelling.
“We urge a short rest of 5-10 minutes, then continue again. There is danger associated with fatigue and then falling into brief sleep or microsleep, which can be fatal,” he said.
Furthermore, Polri has also invited the public to leave their vehicles at local police offices if they wish to travel without their cars during the homecoming period.
“We will ensure the security of vehicles from our fellow citizens who are returning home and have left them at various police office facilities,” he said.
Polri, together with relevant stakeholders, will implement Operation Ketupat 2026 to ensure this year’s homecoming travel runs safely, comfortably, and smoothly.
Johnny stated that during the homecoming period, Polri will deploy 2,756 posts consisting of integrated posts, service posts, and security posts.
“In total there are 185,544 security objects, consisting of places of worship (mosques), Eid prayer locations, tourist attractions, shopping centres, people migration points, ports, terminals, stations, and airports,” he said.
Additionally, Polri has also prepared traffic management measures to be applied situationally in the field.
