Police Act Amendment Addresses Retirement Age, Dasco Highlights Law Enforcement Equality

Dasco received feedback that increasing the police retirement age should be proposed to eliminate disparities.

“Certainly, the police should also propose an increase in retirement age to avoid such differences,” he added.

He then spoke about the Police Bill, which is being discussed this year. Dasco noted that the revision proposal had long been under consideration.

“The revision should have been done earlier, but due to various reasons it has only just started. If there are specific issues, I think not,” he added.

Previously, Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives agreed to form a working committee (panja) for the Police Bill revision, chaired by Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman.

The working committee formation meeting was attended by Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas and representatives from the State Secretariat, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Public Administration and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) at Commission III’s chamber in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, May 25, 2026. Commission III approved the formation of the Police Bill working committee.

“Let’s agree today in this meeting to form the working committee. Do you agree to establish the panja?” Habiburokhman asked during the meeting.

Commission III members agreed. The Police Bill working committee will be chaired by Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman.

“Shall we approve Mr. Habiburokhman as the panja chairman?” he asked.

“Agreed,” the members responded.
