Police: 90,000 vehicles entering Bandung ahead of long holiday

Bandung (ANTARA) - The Bandung City Police recorded 90,000 vehicles entering the city ahead of the long holiday coinciding with the 2570 Buddhist Era Vesak Day on 31 May 2026. Bandung City Traffic Police Chief AKBP Hudi Arif stated that the number of incoming vehicles exceeded outgoing ones, leading to traffic congestion at several points. ‘Today, 90,000 vehicles, both two- and four-wheelers, have entered Bandung, while approximately 60,000 have left,’ Hudi said in Bandung on Friday. ‘Traffic congestion points in Bandung, particularly at toll gates such as Pasteur, Buahbatu, Moh Toha, and Summarecon, require our anticipation,’ he added. He said vehicle congestion is also expected in shopping centres and tourist routes, with personnel deployed at key points to alleviate traffic. He predicted vehicle volume would rise until Sunday (31 May), urging the public to plan travel times and adhere to traffic rules. ‘We also urge the public to comply with traffic regulations and prioritise safety while driving,’ he added.
