Poliban and ULM Drive Digital Transformation for UMKM Berkat Guru Kapuh
Politeknik Negeri Banjarmasin (Poliban) and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, are driving digital transformation at UMKM Berkat Guru Kapuh in South Hulu Sungai Regency through the 2026 Community Service Programme (PKM). The programme is funded by the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology for the 2026 fiscal year. Running from 15 to 18 June 2026, the initiative employs a community-based empowerment scheme under the community partnership empowerment scope, themed ‘Digitalisation of Financial Recording and Online Marketing through Financial Applications and E-Commerce Websites for UMKM Berkat Guru Kapuh’. According to Dr. Monika Handayani, Head of the Community Service Team from Poliban, the programme aims to increase the capacity of MSME actors in managing technology-based businesses by strengthening financial recording, production cost control, and online marketing to enhance business competitiveness in the digital economy era. She explained that initial identification revealed several challenges faced by MSME actors, particularly in managing production costs, calculating the Cost of Goods Sold (HPP), business financial recording, and suboptimal digital marketing. Through this programme, the team seeks to provide applicable and sustainable solutions so that MSMEs can develop more professionally. In addition to training, the Poliban-ULM community service activity produced various innovations that were directly handed over to the MSME partner. The team delivered a digital financial recording application and an e-commerce website specifically designed to meet the needs of UMKM Berkat Guru Kapuh. The financial application enables business actors to record transactions more systematically, monitor cash flow, calculate profit and loss, and compile simple digital financial reports. Meanwhile, the developed e-commerce website serves as an online marketing tool displaying the MSME profile, product catalogue, price information, order contacts, and product promotions to a wider audience. The team also handed over various production and marketing support tools to help increase the business capacity of MSME members. The assistance is expected to improve production process efficiency, maintain product quality, strengthen packaging and promotion, and support more competitive business development. ‘We will strive to mentor other MSMEs as well,’ she said.
