Polda Says Andrie Yunus' Pretrial Review Premature, TAUD Questions Timing
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), representing Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, has denied Polda Metro Jaya’s assertion that the pretrial review regarding the acid attack case against him is premature.
This was stated during the conclusion reading of the pretrial review hearing at South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (26/5/2026).
In response, Andrie’s legal counsel, Afif Abdul Qoyyim, deemed the police’s reasoning legally unfounded.
TAUD contends the pretrial review was filed due to suspicions of a covert termination of the investigation after the case file was transferred from the police to the Indonesian Military Police (Puspom TNI).
“Thus, the transfer of the case file from the respondent to Puspom TNI is a covert ploy to halt the investigation,” Afif said.
According to TAUD, this action also violates Andrie’s human rights as a victim entitled to receive updates on the investigation.
Following the issuance of the Investigation Progress Notification (SP2HP) on 13 April 2026, Andrie and his legal team have not received further updates on the case.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Polda Metro Jaya has not officially halted the investigation. However, a representative from the Polda’s Legal Department did not explain why no further SP2HP has been issued to date.
“This is not law enforcement but a betrayal of justice, obfuscating the perpetrators, concealing the truth, and depriving the victim of legal certainty, which constitutes a human rights violation,” Afif stated.
TAUD also highlighted Polda Metro Jaya’s inadequate presentation of evidence during the hearing, including failure to submit CCTV footage and the absence of witnesses and experts.
The CCTV footage had previously been shown during a Polda Metro Jaya press conference on 18 March 2026, where the perpetrator’s face was clearly visible and their identity disclosed by Director of General Criminal Investigation for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Superintendent Iman Imanuddin.
TAUD asserts that the failure to present this evidence indicates an attempt to suppress facts detrimental to the victim.
