Senior Commissioner I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa, head of the Polda Riau Brimob Unit and Emergency Bridge Task Force, explained that the bridge works are being carried out simultaneously at four strategic locations involving local police units, Polda Riau Brimob personnel, technicians, and professional labourers.

Among the four projects, one is the bridge connecting Bandar Alai Village and Pintu Gobang Kari Village in Kuantan Tengah District. The 50-metre bridge renovation was completed 100% on Sunday (24 May).

The bridge is an iconic part of Pacu Jalur, spanning the Kuantan River and traditionally used for the Pacu Jalur Festival.

“Progress on the renovation and repair of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge connecting Pintu Gobang Kari and Bandar Alai Kari villages has been fully completed (100%), with three more projects remaining in Kuansing,” Senior Commissioner Ketut stated on Monday (25 May 2026).

Ten combined personnel from local police, Brimob, and technicians were involved in the work. In the final stage, officers successfully completed painting the bridge pillars and installing a 50-metre steel plate flooring. The crossing facility is now ready for safe public use.

Meanwhile, construction of the bridge in Kampung Baru Sentajo Village is nearly complete, with progress at 99%. Heavy machinery such as excavators is being used for thorough cleaning around the bridge area, with completion and official opening expected soon.

In Jaya and Munsalo Villages, work on the gateway foundation is at 49% progress. Ten combined personnel from police, Brimob, and technicians are deployed there, using manual tools like shovels and spades to reinforce the structural foundation of the bridge gateway.

For the major project connecting Pulau Komang Sentajo Village (Sentajo Raya District) and Sawah Village (Kuantan Tengah District), progress stands at 30%. As this bridge is a crucial inter-district link, efforts focus on strengthening the steel structure and heavy concreting, including welding connections, installing IWF and UNP steel beams as bridge supports; welding bridge pillar pipes, and constructing steel frameworks, foundations, and pillar concreting (sponeng).
