Polda Metro Suspects There Are Actors Behind and Funders of the DPR Demo Riots

Polda Metro Jaya has named dozens of people as suspects in the riots that occurred around the DPR/MPR building on Thursday (27/8/2026). Police are also investigating allegations that there were parties who mobilised and financed the masses to take part in the action, which ended in damage to public facilities and assault.

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imannudin, said that 315 people were detained and underwent examination after the riots. From the examination and investigation process, police named 48 people as suspects.

Of these, 45 people were named as suspects in cases of alleged damage to public facilities and assault. The determination was made after investigators examined 71 people suspected of being involved in these acts.

“Investigators have examined 71 people suspected of damaging public facilities and committing assault after the 27 August action. From the results of the investigation, based on evidence and witnesses examined during the investigation process, we have now named 45 people as suspects,” said Iman at a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, Friday (28/8/2026).

In addition to the 45 suspects, police named three other people as suspects for allegedly carrying sharp weapons during the riots. Police said the sharp weapons were suspected to have been used in the unrest.

“From the people who were secured, investigators arrested three people who carried sharp weapons used during the riots, and investigators have named those three people as suspects,” he said.

Iman explained that investigators found a number of patterns of action carried out by the suspects. These included damage to public facilities, assault against people and property, as well as acts of violence carried out in groups in public spaces, which triggered chaos.
