Polda Metro Mourns After Aipda Endang Karyana Killed While Assisting Broken-Down Lorry

Polda Metro Jaya is in mourning. Aipda Endang Karyana, a member of the Patrol Unit 4 of the Traffic Directorate, has died in the line of duty.

Aipda Endang passed away while on duty on the Joglo section of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) W2 towards Pondok Pinang, on Friday (3/7). He breathed his last at the Polri Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

He has since been buried in Garut, West Java. Aipda Endang was in the process of assisting a broken-down truck when a wing box vehicle approaching from behind struck the truck.

“The cause of death was a traffic accident,” said the Head of the Traffic Directorate Patrol Unit, AKBP Riecent Indra Brata Manggala.

As a result, the truck was pushed forward and struck Aipda Endang. Rieki noted that Aipda Endang sustained severe injuries to his right leg.

“While the late Aipda Endang Karyana was providing assistance to the driver of a light truck, registration number AD-8974-WW, which was experiencing mechanical issues mid-journey, an Isuzu wing box vehicle, registration number B-9663-TXW, approaching from the direction of Tangerang, suddenly struck the rear tyre of the light truck,” said Rieki.

“This caused the light truck to be pushed to the left, striking the late Aipda Endang Karyana. The deceased sustained severe injuries, particularly to his right leg,” he continued.

Driver Named Suspect

Police have named the driver of the wing box vehicle, identified as Y (48), as the suspect in the traffic accident that caused the death of Aipda Endang Karyana. The police have also detained Y.

“The suspect driver of the wing box vehicle has been detained,” said the Head of Traffic of West Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang, to reporters on Saturday (5/7/2026).

Reza stated that Y was drowsy while driving. Consequently, Y’s vehicle struck the truck, pushing it forward into Aipda Endang, who was standing on the chevron markings.
