Polda Metro Mourns After Aipda Endang Karyana Killed While Assisting Broken-Down Lorry
Polda Metro Jaya is in mourning. Aipda Endang Karyana, a member of Banit Induk 4 Sat PJR Ditlantas, died in the line of duty. Aipda Endang was killed while on duty on the Joglo Toll Road section of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) W2 heading towards Pondok Pinang on Friday (3/7). He took his last breath at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta and has since been buried in Garut, West Java. Aipda Endang was assisting a broken-down lorry when a wing box vehicle approached from behind and collided with the lorry. The cause of death was a traffic accident, according to AKBP Rieki Indra Brata Manggala, Head of the PJR Unit at Polda Metro Jaya’s Traffic Directorate. The impact pushed the lorry forward, causing it to strike Aipda Endang. Rieki stated that Aipda Endang suffered severe injuries to his right leg. He explained that while the deceased was providing assistance to the driver of a light truck with registration number AD-8974-WW that had broken down, an Isuzu wing box vehicle with registration number B-9663-TXW coming from the Tangerang direction suddenly struck the rear tyre of the light truck. This caused the light truck to be pushed to the left and hit the deceased, resulting in severe injuries, particularly to his right leg. Police have named the wing box driver, identified as Y (48), as a suspect in the traffic accident case that led to Aipda Endang Karyana’s death and have detained him. West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit Head, Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang, confirmed the suspect has been detained. Reza stated that Y was drowsy while driving, which caused his vehicle to hit the lorry, pushing it forward and striking Aipda Endang, who was standing in the chevron markings.
