Polda Metro Jaya Warns Against Obstructing Coal Corruption Investigation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Metro Jaya Regional Police have issued a warning against obstructing the investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering cases involving PT PLN (Persero), PT Asabri (Persero), and PT Krakatau Steel.
These three cases involve the electricity blackout under the management of PT PLN (Persero); the alleged corruption cases of Asabri and Jiwasraya between 2020 and 2025; and alleged money laundering in the debt settlement process of PT CBS to PT KNI.
“We wish to convey to anyone attempting to obstruct the investigation process that they may be processed under Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law,” stated the Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, in the Cipete area, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Budi reminded all parties to respect the legal processes currently being handled by the police authorities.
Although he did not specify which parties were being referred to, Budi’s warning applied to all parties to refrain from attempting to hinder the ongoing investigations.
“We need to convey to all colleagues that we urge all parties to collectively respect the processes being carried out by the Police,” he said.
Metro Jaya Regional Police and the National Police Headquarters maintain that they adhere to the principles of professionalism, proportionality, and accountability, asserting that all police actions are accountable.
When questioned regarding the deployment of fully armed personnel during search operations, Budi stated that this was part of the standard procedures carried out by field teams.
“The use of personnel strength is for anticipatory purposes and is part of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) followed by the Police,” he said.
Eight locations were searched simultaneously, including Cafe de’Clan and the Poin Money Changer in Cipete, South Jakarta, which were visited by the Police on Wednesday.
Consequently, the investigation is being conducted in accordance with SOPs regarding three specific case objects: the PLN coal-related blackout, Asabri, and Krakatau Steel.
